ex-am-i-na-tion The act of examining or the state of being examinied- Guy.
Pictures of Guy taken whilst he was having conversations with other people. I found this exercise to be rather interesting because its amusing as to how many different hand gestures and facial expressions that you could get ech time.
Portrait by Irving Penn. Reasons as to why i chose this particular image is because its very Charlie Chaplin like whether or not this is actualy suposed to be a photographic portrait of him i'm not sure, things that make me believe this is based on or is charlie chaplin, would be the well known eyeliner/facepaint and moustache that is so very iconic. I think the overall dress sense of this character is indeed very chaplin like. However, in most of his images/movies, chaplin is known to be this happy high spirited man, whereas in this particular picture, the character appears thoughtful and almost sad, almost like he's grown old.
Also the idea of him holding a white rose is very symbolic in itself, meaning -purity, innocence, spirituality and sympathy, as well as remembrance, honor and revarance.

These were the metal letters that were outside the rooms. I love how this looked, and how all the letters were held on by a piece of thread/wire so they were all lose and mobile, so that when touched the banged together and made a wind chime sound. I also though it was intresting how the the room was open and that the giant windows came in and created shadows on the wall oposite the windows.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
I really liked this part of the exhibition, which consisted of 3 rooms, and each room containing something of this kind of form and idea, and out of the 3 rooms this was my favourite. I loved the idea that they were on the wall looking down at you, and that they had little words in the eyes and on the mouths. I thought the atmosphere of the room was quite scary, and the noise from the metal letters outside the room banging together added to the affect.

Hit The Highway

I think my main reasons for chosing this photo is because of the colours and the sky mainly.

I keep all the photos that i take that have this sort of effect where the sunlight/sunset light beams out of one window and hits the camera lense, and the idea that you can get really bright colours, each time depending where abouts you are. For instance i was on a coach on the way home from a trip to london and i remember it being really cold but really sunnny, and i thought it was a nice sight looking at the sun shining inside.
This was taken when i went to see a live band, And i like the idea how the photo isnt very clear because of all the smoke, and how you can see all the different colour variations coming from different angles on the stage, i like the bluryness also, because i think it shows how excited i was, and how happy i was to take the photo, which is an important thing to me.
